Martha Caborn's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 8th June 1788, when she married a butcher called Benjamin Walby at Benington in Hertfordshire. He was from the neighbouring parish of Aston, and they settled there after their marriage, having seven children baptised at Aston between 1789 and 1798. Martha died in 1799, being buried at Aston on 11th February 1799. Benjamin survived her by eighteen years and remarried in 1805. References
