Notes

Nancy Cunningham's eldest daughter Jane Taffee [some have her as Jane Grimes but she was the daughter of James Taffee (1730-1782)) was born prior to Nancy's marriage with Mark Grimes. This is corroborated in the will of Nancy's father, Robert Cunningham, written prior to February 1802, as follows:

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy the old _____ place also the Skiliock (?) Place in Randolph County in Tigers Valley also my Doly Place which I give to her and her heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath to Nancy's oldest daughter born before (?) marriage the Mill having giving the Hanibelton Track containing four hundred and forty five acres the same more or less which I give to her & her heirs forever.

It is also corroborated in the marriage record of Jane Taffee to Aaron Vanscoy, Jr. in Randolph County, [W] Virginia:

1799 - Aaron Vanscoy m. Gean Taffe, dau. of Nancy Grimes, performed by Robert Maxwell. [Source: Bosworth, Albert S. A history of Randolph County, West Virginia, from its earliest exploration and settlement to the present time. (Elkins, West Virginia: A.S. Bosworth, 1916), pg. 62].
