Marjorie E. Houghton WINDSOR - Marjorie E. Houghton, 77, died July 11, 2000, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Plymouth. She was raised in Plymouth and as a child lived at the Coolidge Farm. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1940. She was married to Gordon Wardwell in 1943 in Bridgewater. He died in 1945. She was married to Evan R. Houghton in Woodstock on March 10, 1949. He died in 1990. Mrs. Houghton worked as a telephone operator in Bridgewater during World War II. More recently she had worked at the Valley News in Lebanon as a carrier for 26 years. She also volunteered for the Share Program in Windso Survivors include two sons, Elwin H. Houghton of Hartland and Roy H. Houghton of Windsor; five daughters, Ellen Major of Woodbridge, Va., Susan Holmes and Melanie Minard, both of Windsor, Penny VanWeort of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Pam Hoffmaster of Linden, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Wayne Wardwell, in 1995. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor by the Rev. Janice Chilek, pastor of the Bridgewater Congregational Church. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Bridgewater. Friends may call Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
