Little Marie BICKNELL Dragged to Death
Died Sunday Morning
Services from Home.
Little ten-year-old Marie BICKNELL, daughter of grocer J. W. BICKNELL, was dragged to death by a horse in an eight-acre pasture near Pleasanton, Saturday.
The accident occurred late Saturday evening, when the little girl, in company with a young companion, went to the pasture to catch the driving horse confined there. A long rope was attached to the halter on the horse, and the little girl was in the act of picking up the rope when the horse started briskly
away. The child started to run after the fleeing animal, and accidentally stepped into a loop in the end of the rope, being jerked to the ground.
The horse then became thoroughly frightened and struck off at the top of his speed, running three or four times around the field before the girl's foot was finally freed from the rope.
The unfortunate child was frightfully bruised and otherwise injured, her recovery being impossible. She died Sunday morning at four o'clock.
The funeral services were from the home Sunday evening, Elder Duncan CAMPBELL officiating.
