Maria Paine was born August 26th, 1810, in the township of Willink, Erie county, N. Y., near Buffalo. When ten years of age she moved with her parents to Enfield, Tompkins county, N. Y., where she was married in 1830 to Benjamin H. Hinkley. In 1832 they emigrated to Bronson township, in this county. Mr. Hinkley died March 1st, 1894. To their happy union were born five children, only two of whom are now living. Mr. and Mrs. Hinkley united with the Baptist church in North Fairfield, in April, 1855, and in 1885 took letters therefrom and united with the Baptist church at Olena. Since the death of her husband she has been greatly afflicted, until death came on January 20th, 1896.
