  5. Note: The death record says she was a widow, but there does not appear to be a change in name, so looks like an error. There is a marriage record in 1862 between William Tuttle and Maria Bates (here). In the 1880 census (here), line 17 shows Helen Shoults and her son Frank as sis[ter] in law and nephew which suggests this was this Maria. However, the writing on the census record is hard to read and uncertain. More evidence is needed.
