After death of her husband, Georg, Margarethe first left for Austria and then Germany, where her daughter Magdalena already lived.
In 1950 Margarethe left with all her surviving children for Canada, where her eldest daughter Elisabeth lived since her marriage in the mid-twenties. Only daughter Magdalena remained in Germany until 1957, when she and family went to Nashville, Tennessee, but she returned to Germany in late 1958.
