Margaret Elizabeth Williams was born on 13th June 1900 at Dartford in Kent, daughter of a leather works labourer named Walter Williams and his wife Margaret. Young Margaret appears in the 1901 census living with her parents and siblings at 11 Plough Court in Dartford. By 1911 they had moved to 145 Hythe Street in Dartford.
Margaret was still living at 145 Hythe Street on Boxing Day 1925 when she married an engineer called William Richard Savage. Both witnesses to the marriage were relatives of Margaret's: her sister Olive and a Walter Williams who could be either her father or brother.
Margaret and William went on to have three children in the Dartford area between 1928 and 1934, although the youngest died as a baby.
By 1939 the family had left the Dartford area. The 1939 Register, taken at the outbreak of the Second World War, finds them living at Surbiton in Surrey.
Margaret appears to have died in 1966 in the Horsham area of Sussex. She was 66 years old. William survived her by fifteen years.
