    GEKILL, Margaret Elizabeth - It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Gekill, a former resident of Thornbury, announces her passing at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the age of 97. Margaret was born in Kern's Township, Nipissing, a daughter of the late Samuel James and Minnie (née Noury) Ireton. She was the loving and caring wife of Hartley Gekill who predeceased her in 1982. She was a wonderful mother to <names of living individuals have been removed.> Margaret will be remembered as a cherished grandmother to <names of living individuals have been removed.> She was blessed with four great grandchildren: <names of living individuals have been removed.> She is survived by a sister Ethel McKean of Blenheim and was predeceased by three brothers: Norman, Elgin and Stanley Ireton and is remembered by her several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews as Aunt Margaret. A granddaughter Lori also predeceased Margaret. During her lifetime Margaret was a very active member in the Free Methodist Church and enjoyed the many friendships made while with the 10th Line Women's Institute. Family will receive friends at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, THE VALLEY CHAPEL in Thornbury on Wednesday from 2 until 4 and from 7 until 9 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Robert Buchanan at the funeral home on Thursday, January 26th at 11 a.m. with a service of committal and interment to follow at Thornbury- Clarksburg Union Cemetery. Be strong, courageous, unafraid. Trust in God, be not dismayed. He's promised never to forsake, To guide and guard each step we take. There is a peace in God.
