- ↑ Birth about 1675 is a guess based on her husband's age.
- ↑ Margaret is named as mother in son Benjamin's birth record 28 May 1711 (see Source:Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. Boston Births from A.D. 1700 to A.D. 1800, p. 78).
- Source:NEHGR, "William and Richard Harris of the North End, John and William Harris of the South End" by Gale Ion Harris, p. 152:328, proposes that Clement's wife might be Margaret (Elson) Harris, the widow of John Harris whom she m. Salem 22 May 1695. The will of John's father, Capt. Richard Harris of Boston, dated 1714, makes no mention of John nor any heirs, and no mention is found of John or his wife after their marriage. It also refutes a popular theory that Margaret was the daughter of Thomas Harris and Hannah Stackhouse, citing Source:Davis, Walter Goodwin. Ancestry of Bethia Harris, 1748-1833, p. 13, and arguing that the will of his father makes it clear he had no heirs, and Thomas doesn't appear to have been married.
