AGED MAN KILLED BY TRAIN
Marcellus Sakers, 84, Despondent Over Death of His Daughter
LEFT HOME IN EARLY MORNING
Marcellus Sakers, aged 84 years, of 503 Elsmere street, Richardson Park, was killed late yesterday afternoon, at Thirtieth street, by an electric train of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Sakers was walking along the tracks when struck by the train on the shoulder, hurling him forward and fracturing his skull.
The aged man left the home of his son, Morris Sakers, yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock. The family was unaware of his going and after his failure to return, during the early afternoon, inquiries were made as to his whereabouts and a search started.
His body lay in the county morgue for almost five hours before it was identified. A tattoo mark on the left forearm, the design being two hearts pierced by an arrow, and a tattoo mark with the initials, which appeared to be "E. M." on the right forearm, aided in the identification.
Mr. Sakers had been retired from active business for a number of years. He was greatly grieved over the loss of a daughter about four years ago, and this caused him to become mentally depressed at times.
Mr. Sakers is survived by his son, Morris and a daughter, Mrs. W. H. Wells, of New Castle avenue, and 17 grandchildren.
The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon with interment in Silverbrook Cemetery.
