Died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born December 27, 1929, in Wisconsin, the daughter of Wesley and Beatrice (Meyer) Abeldt. On May 1, 1948, she married Wayne D. Woodard and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1990. Marcie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti and a former member of St. Alexis Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society. She will always be remembered for her love of family and serving many years as a Girl Scout Leader. Survivors include three children: Jayne (Marcus) Greer, Walter M. Woodard and Leonard S. (Lori) Woodard; grandchildren: Marcus Greer III, Donna Greer,Steven James, Rachel Pechette, Richie Ovellette, Michael Woodard, Michelle McQueen, Jaime Woodard, Heather Nichols, Mary Woodard, Leroy Woodard, Christina Woodard, David Woodard, John Woodard and Christopher Woodard; several great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law, Barbara Woodard; Sister-in-law, Dolores Abeldt; two nieces: Angela Yates and Valorie Duzan; and one nephew, Terry Abeldt and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, one stepson, Warren E “Spike” Woodard; one brother, Leroy “Buck” Abeldt. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 1, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Janowiak Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Union-Udell Cemetery, Ypsilanti Twp., Michigan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8.
