"MRS. GEORGE POTEE DIES IN FLORIDA," 30 Jan 1958, p. 4, col. 2.
MRS. GEORGE POTEE DIES IN FLORIDA Mrs. George Potee of Daytona Beach, Fla, mother of Leland F. Schlieder of Manchester Cente, and a resident of Manchester for many years, died in Daytona Sunday night January 26. Mrs. Potee suffered a heart attack a considerable time ago and from this she had made a good recovery, but she suffered a second attack the middle of January, and from this she did not rally. Mrs. Potee was born February 14, 1875. With her husband George R. Schlieder and her two sons, she came to Manchester in 1913 as a part of the Rich Lumber Company group that established mills in town at that time and built up the Richville community. After Mr. Schlieder's death, the deceased was married to Patrick J. Ryan. They continued to make thier home in Manchester, later going to Daytona Beach in the winter. About 20 years ago they made their home in Daytona, where Mr. Ryan died, and Mrs. Ryan married George Potee, who passed away a few years ago. During her years of residence in Manchester Mrs. Potee was active in the community life and she had a host of friends who will mourn her passing. Mrs Potee is survived by her son, Leland F. Schlieder; the other son, Howard, having died in 1955. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family came to Manchester from Wanakena, N.Y., where they had lived for some years. The funeral will be held in Carthage, N. Y., at the Bossuot Funeral Home on Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Schlieder left for Carthage this morning.
