Malcolm (Bill) Cady, Harbor, died Aug. 15, 2001, in Harbor. He was born Feb. 8, 1928, to Malcolm and Elna Cady.

    He lived most of his childhood at the Trinidad Lighthouse on the Northern California coast when his dad was a lighthouse keeper.  The family moved to Ashland when Bill was in high school.
   Mr. Cady served in the Navy aboard the U. S. Battleship Californiaa during World War II, and joined the Goodwill Tour around the world aboard his battleship.
   He was a life member of the Brookings-Harbor Battleship Club.
   Following the war, he married Gleniss Wignall.  They moved to Medford in 1958, and he retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1977.  They travelled for 10 years, and he was a member of the Airstream (RV) club.
   Gleniss passed away in 1987, and Mr. Cady married JoAnn Townes of Medford on Dec. 7, 1990 and the couple moved to Harbor 10 years ago and built a lighthouse onto their beach cottage.  Mr. Cady's dream of becoming a lighthouse keepeeer was realized when the lighthouse was moved to Pelican Point overlooking the Chetco River, harbor and ocean, and on July 4, 1997, the light was turned on as an "aid to navigation."
   Mr. Cady was also a member of the Brookings Elks Lodge.
   He is survived by wife, JoAnn, Harbor; borhter, John Cady and his wife, Sue, Central Point; son, David Cady, Seattle; stepchildren, Mark and Nancy Townes, Grants Pass; Joan and Mark McFarland, Madras; and Bob and Suzi Townes, Anacortes, Wash.
   He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gleniss, and his brother, Jim Cady.
