Nelson Reynolds was born in Petersburg, N. Y., Jan. 19, 1809, and died in Milton, Wis., Jan. 25, 1898. He lived in New York until 1854 when he came west and settled in Peoria county, Illinois, residing there for 10 years. In 1865 he came to Milton where he has since resided.
Bro. Reynolds was a Christian from his early manhood. He joined the M. E. church in New York and has been connected with that society all of these years having been superintendent of the Sunday school in New York and also in Illinois. He was for several years a trustee of the M. E. church of Milton.
In his younger life he was a very earnest worker in the church and devoted to the interests of every moral reform. 'He came down to his grave like a shock of corn fully ripe and ready for his Master's use.'
The infirmities of old age have been depleting his physical strength for some time but while 'the outer tabernacle was being dissolved the inner life was renewed day by day.' He prayed earnestly for a quiet and peaceful hour in which to die. The Lord answered his petition and without a struggle he has entered into rest. His mind was clear to the last and the greatest trial seemed to be the parting with his friends here. He was favored with the presence of his devoted wife and children, one son and two daughters, during his last illness and as they ministered to him every act was gratefully appreciated. A good man, a devoted husband and father, has gone to join that innumerable company that John saw before the throne of God.
