Stewart Creek Cemetery, Quincy, Columbia, Oregon: Jones, Lyman, pg 143 Row 9 CO K, IST WIS I

From the cemetery sexton: "I visited Stewart Creek Cemetery last Thursday and was able to locate the grave of Lyman Jones. Unfortunately, there is no date on the stone. Here is the inscription: "Lyman Jones, Co. H, 1st Wis. Inf." As I said on the phone, our records from so long ago are rather sketchy at best. Perhaps you could find more information at the courthouse, or wherever it is that they keep death certificates. I am not sure what the proceedure was back then. Sorry I could not be of greater help."
