Facts and Events
Name Lydia Smith
Gender Female
Birth[1][2] Est 1790
Marriage Pine hill, Ulster Co.,NYto Trowbridge Milks
Death[3] Bet 1820 and 1823

Identity Uncertain

There is no (easily located) evidence online for the name of Trowbridge's first wife.

As of Feb 2025, FamilySearch Family Tree calls her Lydia June Smith (1790-1822) with no sources or notes, other than citing a grave marker inscription saying she was the first wife of James van Valkenburgh (clearly a confusion with the grave marker of her daughter, whose grave marker gives her maiden name). Find A Grave has an erroneous entry, also calling her Lydia June Smith and using the grave marker of her daughter Lydia Jane (Milks) van Valkenburgh (died 13 Jan 1856). Several other trees follow suit.

It is possible that her name was Lydia Smith, so I am leaving that name (although "Lydia" might be a guess based on her elder daughter's name, and "Smith" might be confusion with her daughter Catherine's married name).
