    'SERGT. THOMAS PRATT ([son of] Matthew [meaning Macute]) was born before 1628; slain by the Indians between Sudbury and Marlborough, 19 Apr, 1676. He married (1) Mary -----, the mother of his children. He married (2) Lydia -----, who survived him and married at Braintree 26 Sept. 1676, Josiah Chapin of Braintree.'

  3. According to the Braintree records, Josiah Chapin m. widow Lydia Pratt (see sources for marriage). In notes supposedly written by Josiah, he named her Lydia Brown (see his person page). This appears to be how her maiden name is known to be Brown. Source:Chamberlain, George Walter. History of Weymouth, Massachusetts, p. 4:501, says Sgt. Thomas Pratt, m. (1) Mary ---, mother of his children, m. (2) Lydia ---, and was killed by Indians 19 Apr 1676. A petition of the guardians of Thomas's children mentions "Lydia, relict of Tho: Pratt, deceased ... and her present husband Josiah Chapin".
