    Will of "Luke Rice of Shrewsbury ... husbandman being weake In Body", dated 20 Apr 1754, proved 4 Jul 1754, names wife Rachil, son Hezekiah Rice, five Daughters Viz't Dinah the wife of Abraham Eager Rachil the wife of Jonas Stone Abigale the wife of Benj'a Maynerd Priscilla the wife of Jotham How & Sarah the wife of Nathaniel Whittemore, my two Grand Daughters viz't Katharine & Mary Baker the Children of my Late Daughter Azuba Baker Deceased. Wife and son Hezekiah to be executors.
    Undated: "I being something aged & much unacquainted with business I hereby signifie my desire not to act as an Executor to the Last will & Testament of my late Dec'd husband Luke Rice but I fully accept & am contented with what is bequeathed & would have my son the other Executor act without me. Signed Rachil Rice [by mark]. "I accept" signed Hezekiah Rice.
    28 Jun 1754: "We the Subscribers the Widow & Six of the Children of Luke Rice late of Shrewsbury yeoman Deceased desire the will of ye said Dec'd may be proved & approved. Signed Rachil Rice, Dinah Eager, Jonas & Rachel Stone, Benjamin & Abigail Maynard, Jotham & Priscilla How, Nathaniel & Sarah Whittemore, Thomas Baker for his Daughters.

  3. Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, p. 55, disappointingly says that Luke d. 4 Jul 1754, which is the date his will was proved, not the date he died. The same probate file where is found the will, clearly shows he died before 28 Jun 1754 when the heirs filed a petition with the court. Somewhat typically, the picture-less Find A Grave gives the date from Ward, suggesting a gravestone exists, which clearly it could not if it had that date.
