Luke B. Crandall, second son of George and Mary Crandall, was born the 24th day of March 1849, in Westerly, Rhode Island. In 1865 he came west with his parents who took up their residence in the western part of Albion township. On Sept. 26, 1872, he was united in marriage to Lucinda Brown and to them were born two children, Edwin who died October 1st, 1925, and Ina Belle who died in childhood. In May, 1919, Mrs. Crandall passed away and since that time Mr. Crandall made his home for several years with his son Edwin and after the latter's death with his foster daughter, Mrs. Harry Singer. He had been in poor health for several years. He was taken seriously ill during the early morning hours of Friday, April 27th, 1928, and though everything possible was done to save his life, death came in the afternoon of the same day.
He is survived by his daughter Luella, four grandchildren, four brothers, Albert of Milton Junction, Edgar of San Diego, Calif., Ellery of Albion township, Oliver of Milton Junction, one sister, Mrs. H.A. Day of St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Crandall was a member of the Albion Prairie Methodist church since early in the seventies and since the discontinuance of the Albion Prairie church has been a member of the Edgerton Methodist Episcopal church.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 30th, at 1:30 o'clock at the home and the remains laid to rest in Albion Prairie cemetery, Rev. R.J. Bailey officiating.
Those in attendance at the funeral ceremonies from out of town were Oliver Crandall, Albert Crandall, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Crandall, Milton Junction; Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Green, Koshkonong Station; Mrs. Melvin Chadwick, John Webber, Fort Atkinson; Mrs. Albert Koss, Jefferson, and Frank Webber, Delavan.
