  2. The identification of Samuel Cummings' wife as this Lucy Taft is taken from some websites (e.g., here). The basis not explained, but she is the only Lucy Taft of an appropriate age found in the Uxbridge VRs. Further, there is a deed, Vol. 73, 523, where "Samuel Cumings of Uxbridge" sells land to James Emerson "the same Peice of Land last mentioned in a Deed of Sale from Joseph Taft Jun'r to the Grantor dated the 9th of Februa[r]y 1762". However, this referenced deed does not seem to be listed in either the grantee or grantor index, and may never have been recorded. Thus it is unknown if the deed might describe the relationship between Samuel and Joseph Taft Jun'r.
