In Utica, Wis, March 16th, 1875, of congestion of the lungs, Mrs. Lucy, wife of Mr. Samuel H. Coon aged 49 years, 7 months, and 17 days. Sister Coon was born in Allegany county, N. Y., July 29th, 1825. She was converted when about seventeen years of age, and baptized by Eld. Cochrane. On removing to Wisconsin, she united with the Albion Church, but for several years previous to her death, she had been a worthy and beloved member of the Christiana Church. She was married to Mr. S. H. Coon Oct. 10th, 1847. For many years she had been a great sufferer from heart disease. During the past winter she was entirely prostrated most of the time, but was to all appearance regaining a good degree of health, when the angel of death entered and summoned her away. The afternoon and evening preceding her death she seemed unusually well. She sat up and read until about nine o'clock, and then retired. In about an hour after retiring, she was taken severely ill, and once realized that she had but a short time to live. At her request the members of the family were called, to whom she gave her dying counsel.
Sister Coon leaves an aged father, a husband, four children, a brother, and two sisters, and a very large circle of more remote relatives, to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held at the church in Christiana, March 20th, conducted by Eld. James E. N. Backus, a pastor of the Albion Church, who preached a discourse from Philippians 1 : 23, 'For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better.'
