    Lucille K. Mauer Bean, 78, Topeka, died Friday, June 11, at a Topeka nursing home.

    Mrs. Bean was a shipping clerk for Adams Business Forms for more than 40 years before she retired Dec. 31, 1983.

    She was born Dec. 13, 1920, in Topeka, the daughter of John and Emma Hefner Mauer.

    Mrs. Bean was a member of St. Joseph Parish and later a member of the Church of the Assumption. She also was a member of the auxiliaries to the Disabled American
    Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

    She married John Dale Bean on July 4, 1942, at Camp Rucker, Ala. He died Jan. 21, 1968. A grandson, Patrick Bean, also preceded her in death.

    Survivors include a son, James Bean, Topeka; a daughter, Sheila Morelock, Topeka; five brothers, Joe Mauer, Frank Mauer and Charlie Mauer, all of Topeka, Raymond Mauer, Paxico, and Jacob Mauer, Lee's Summit, Mo.; five sisters, Lavina McCall, Catherine Edee, Irene Reeb and Ann Harmes, all of Topeka, and Delores Mauer, Denver; two grandsons; two step granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Bean will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice, or to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
