Facts and Events
When husband John Brown Woods was killed in the Civil War, his widow received a so-called "widow's bounty" from the government. Family legend maintains that she used the funds to commission an Empire-style library table. Subsequently married George C. Miller. Listed as "Mrs. Lucilla Archer Miller, Widow of George C. Miller" in DAR Lineage Book, vol. 26 (1898), p. 257 (Google Books). The library table descended through the family as "Grandma Miller's table." The table became part of the Elisabeth Hall Elkind estate. References
