Facts and Events
Mrs. Susan Smith Carey has a letter written by Chester Hughey (John an d Luanna's son) to Flossie Hughey, his sister, regarding her trying to s how proof of her birth for the social security administration. In this l etter Chester states that John Hughey died July 21, 1914 in Boyne Falls a nd that Luana died August 31, 1917.
Mrs. Carey, daughter of Alberta Jean Waldo, also has a note that says:
grandma -- Anes Hughey -- Stanton, Powell County, Kentucky

Anna--Hughey
Mary--Hampton
She deduces that they must be Anna's sisters and their married names. Her mother, Alberta Jean Waldo, remembers Mary Hampton and Liza Hampton, a nd questions whether they were married to brothers.
My research on the Hampton family indicates that the Hampton husbands of Luanna's sisters were indeed brothers. In fact, they were cousins of m y great-grandfather, Thomas Eli Proffit, who also married Mary Ellen An es. Eliza Jane Anes (aka Liza) married William David Hampton, son of Thomas Hampton and Sylvia E. Proffit. Mary Ellen Anes married William's brother, George W. Hampton.
