Dolly Ball became an heiress when her father, Thomas Handley, died in May of 1905. An only child, she inherited along with her mother, Sophia a large ranch on Albion ridge.

Louise R. Brown Taken by Death; Services Tuesday

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary for Mrs. Louise R. (Dolly) Brown, 87, Ukiah, who died at a local rest home Sunday.

Mrs. Brown, a member of the pioneer Handley family, early residents of the Mendocino coastal area, was the widow of the long- time Albion postmaster, Axel Brown, who was an engineer for the federal government before his retirement and subsequent post mastership.

A native of California, Mrs. Brown resided in the Ukiah area for a decade.

The Rev. Travis Hyatt will conduct funeral services. Inurnment will follow at the Chapel of the Chimes, Santa Rosa.
