In 1910 & 1930 he was a general farmer. 1930 their granddaughter, Margaret, is living with them.

He homesteaded and farmed, but preferred lumbering, which he did during the winter, and he liked horses. He never complained and always provided for the family. When his daughter, Laura almost died he walked to town to get medicine. He was small, 145 pounds, spoke French and English and was gentle.
