Louis lived in Illinois, Missouri and Ohio.

In 1860 Louis was living with his parents in Litchfield, Montgomery County, Illinois. (Source: 1860 Census - Litchfield, Montgomery County, Illinois)

After the death of his father in 1868, Louis moved with his family to St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1870 Louis was living with his family in St. Louis, Missouri at 701 Russell Avenue. (Source: 1870 Census - St. Louis, Missouri)

From 1880 through 1882 Louis was living with his family in St. Louis, Missouri at 1612 Gratiot. He was listed as a clerk with H. Griffin & Sons. (Source: 1880 Census - Census - St. Louis, Missouri and the St. Louis City Directory.)

Sometime about 1890, Louis B. Duff and Clara Regina Quadling applied to Hamilton County (Cincinnati), Ohio for a marriage license. Ray and Carol Anderson, visiting Cincinnati about 1990, could find no record of the actual marriage license. They were told by a Probate Office Clerk at the Hamilton County Court House that, in the 1800s, marriage records were often incomplete because marriages performed by Catholic priests were often not reported to public authority. Louis was a traveling salesman living in Cincinnati prior to his death in 1892. It is not known what he sold or what company he worked for.

A child, Mary Emma Duff, was born to Louis Duff and Clara Quadling on February 10, 1891 (per Certificate of Baptism, The Old Cathedral of St Peter In Chains, 325 West 8th St., Cincinnati, Ohio). Mary Emma Duff would later become known as Mary Louise Alexander Robb. She was the mother of Janet Louise Robb Faure and Carol Ellis Robb Anderson.

Louis is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio.
