Louis Benny Adkins born 22 Oct 1870 KY died 9 June 1962 IL

Louis Benny Adkins was born in Sebree, KY 22 Oct 1870 to Moses Band Charlotte Hunter Adkins. and departed this life at the OddFellows Home in Mattoon, IL. His mother passed away when he was five years old and he was rearedby foster parents, Mr and Mrs William Morehead.

When a young man he moved to Union Co (Illinois) and on June 3,1891 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Lillie Mae Sisk atCobden, IL. To this union ten children were born, six sons, andfour daughters. He was preceded in death by Mrs Adkins, on July7, 1940 and by three sons and two daughters.

He was united in marriage to Mrs Laura Kellar of McClure, IL onApril 23, 1943 who passed away on May 18, 1952. He professedfaith in Christ and united with the Bethel Baptist Church nearCobden, IL in 1891. At the time of his passing he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, IL.. Hejoined the Odd Fellows Lodge at Cobden, IL in 1906 later transferring to the Lodge atJonesboro. There he remained a member until his passing.

He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, Horace B and VermerR., of Dupo, IL. and Frank V of Wolf Lake, IL. two daughters, Mrs Mae McCloud ofAnna, IL and Mrs Edith Kinder of Jonesboro, IL. eight grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and one great great grandson and one sister, Mrs Emma Stone ofHenderson, KY, several neices and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held in the chapel of Norris and Son inJonesboro, IL on Tuesday June 12, 1962 at 2 00 P M. with the Rev Floyd Lacyofficiating. Inter- ment was in the Jonesboro, IL cemetery.
