Funeral services for L. C. Severance were held Wednesday afternoon from the SDB church with Rev. F. D. Saunders officiating.
Rev. and Mrs. Saunders sang Beyond the Sunset and Shadows, with Mrs. Harlon Brennick at the organ.
Pall bearers were Melvin, Vernon and Udell Williams, Aubrey Davis, Wayne Babcock and Ellery King.
Burial was in Grand Island with Ashley's mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Louette Carl Severance, the eldest of seven children of Hector C. Severance and Emma Ann Ellis, was born Nov. 23, 1879 at Dodge Center, Minnesota and died September 30, 1956 at North Loup, Nebr., aged 76 years, 10 months and 7 days.
On Sept. 26, 1903 he was married to Cora Belle Whitney at Gentry, Ark. To them were born eight children. His wife, one son and one daughter, and one sister preceded him in death.
His home has been in South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Nebraska and for the past 22 years at Battle Creek, Mich. A few weeks ago he returned to North Loup to be near his sons Cecil and Clifton and their families.
His paternal ancestry dates back to John Severn of Shrawley, Worcestershire, England in the 16th century and his maternal ancestry to a long line of royalty of the Dunham family from 600 A.D. One John Dunham of England, born 1588, came over on the Mayflower.
Surviving are his sons Clifton of Ord, Leighton of Battle Creek, Mich., Cecil of North Loup, Chester of Hawthorne, Calif., and two daughters, Lillian of Evanston, Wyo., and Lucille of Denver, Colo.
Also surviving are two brothers, Alton of Saratoga, Calif., Harland of College Place, Wash., three sisters, Mabel Nelson of Milton, Wis., Maude Van Horn of North Loup, Nebr., and Evangeline Haskins of Racine, Wis., besides many other relatives and friends.
