    Lorenzo “Boats” Dowell Walters, Jr., 79, of Weatherford passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 in a local nursing facility. Visitation: 11am to 1pm, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Graveside: 2:15 PM, Friday May 25, 2018 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.

    Lorenzo was born January 9, 1939 in Montgomery, Alabama to Lorenzo, Sr. and Gladys Foley Walters. Lorenzo proudly served in the US Navy, retiring as a Boatswain Mate. During that time, he served in Vietnam on the USS Tolovana in 1964. He then served at the Rec Camp and the Commissary at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo as part of Civil service until 1998. Lorenzo and his wife Phyllis, then moved to Weatherford in 1999.
    Lorenzo was loving known as Boats, Pap-Poo and Paps; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, Nascar and especially enjoyed football. He worshipped and never stopped loving his beloved wife. He loved his family and was loved by all that knew him. In addition to his parents, Lorenzo was preceded in death by his precious wife of 35 years, Phyllis Jean Walters, sister Edna Hall, son Steven Roy South and his brothers Bobby Walters and James Wilson. He is survived by his children, Tony Walters and wife Alitha, Diane Osborn and husband Jerry, Kenneth South and wife Giovanna and Shari Westbrook; brother, David Walters; sisters, Leslie Gibbons, Nancy McCloud and Ann Lukker; grandchildren, Stefanie Winiger, Ciera Walters, Justin Walters, Kaylin and Kelsie Grissett, Justin, Jason and Jacci Westbrook and Isabella South; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
