Mrs. S. Norton Lowther, 84, Ontario, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 22, in California, where she had resided for the past nine years. Mrs. Lowther, mother of Mrs. Roger Burdick, was a native of Milton and a longtime resident.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, the Rev. Earl Cruzan officiating. Burial was in the Milton Cemetery with Stanley Fox, Milton Van Horn, LeLand Skaggs, William D. Burdick, Arthur Drake and Herbert Crouch, pallbearers.
Grace Rood was born Sept. 23, 1885, in Milton, the daughter of Hosea and Elizabeth Munroe Rood. She was a graduate of Milton Academy. She was married in Madison Oct. 10, 1907, to S. Norton Lowther and the couple lived their married life in Milton. Mr. Lowther was killed in an automobile accident in Illinois Jan. 15, 1952. She was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Roger Burdick, Milton; Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Durkee of Ontario, Calif.; and Mrs. Edwin T. (Virginia) Clocker, St. Paul, Minn.; six granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
