"Clinton -Mrs. Lois Amanda Wardwell passed away Tuesday morning. She had been in failing health for a number of months and was tenderly cared for by Mrs. Emma Flagg at her home. One son, Ashton Wardwell, of Vanceboro, who is in town, called by his mother's illness. Mrs. Wardwell was 77 years of age, had passed most of her life in Clinton and was highly esteemed by all. Funeral will be at the Brown Memorial M.E. Church at 1:30 PM Friday." -Daily Kennebec Journal 16 December 1911

"The funeral of the late Mrs. Lois Amanda Wardwell was held from the Brown Memorial M.E. Church, Rev. Charles Beebee officiating. The flowers were beautiful. There were many designs from friends and the orders of which she had been a member. Selections were sung by Misses Mattie May Greeley and Helen Beebee. The bearers were the son, Ashton Wardwell and the three nephews, Maurice Powell of Orono, Edgar Brown of Waterville and Earl Bean of Canaan. Internment was in the Village cemetery. The following were in town to attend the funeral of the late Mrs. Wardwell: Mrs. Isaac Bean, Mr and Mrs. Earl Bean of Canaan, Maurice Powell of Orono; Rev. Hannah Powell, who is the coast missionary work, Mrs. George Richardson of Fairfield; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Craig, Mr. and Mrs. White, Mrs. Laura Brown, and son Edgar, of Waterville." -Daily Kennebec Journal 21 December 1911
