BIOGRAPHY (1925): Gallatin North Missourian, Sept 10, 1925; Page 7, Column 4, "Altamont Items": "Mr & Mrs Simon Grove received a message Monday from Mena, Ark., that their daughter-in-law, Mrs Lillian Grove, who has been in ill health for some time was very low. Mrs. Grove left Monday afternoon and at this time no further word has been received." -- Handwritten extration from SLR to SAR, March 2007

OBITUARY: Gallatin North Missourian, Sept 17, 1925; Page 7, Column 6, "Altamont Items": "MRS. LILLYAN ANTHONY GROVE Liliy [sic] Ann Athony [sic] was born December 26, 1877, at Woodson, Ill. At the age of ten years she obeyed the gospel, at Virden, Ill, and was baptized by her own father, who has labored for the Masters cause for more than half a century. She was united in marriage to Chas. S. Grove in the Christian church at Altamont, Mo., April 20, 1902. To this union was born two sons, Anthony and Maurice. Shewent to her reward September 2, 1925, after which her body was laid of her husband, who preceeded her ten years. She is susvived [sic] by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Anthony, two sisters, Mrs. Cecvl Covault, Miss George Anthony and a brother, Corvine Anthony, a sister having passed away a little over a year ago. After some months of intense suffering which was bravely endured with the greatst [sic] degree of patience, Sister Lillyan Grove came to the end of Life's short pilgrimage. Surely but few Christians have ever come to death with more courage than did she. The indications were that she felt the pressure of the hand of the silent messenger of death upon her brow for a number of hours before the end came. Her parents and his wife were away when the Angels first seemed to be "hovering round" for her spirit. She called for them repeatedly and anxiously waited their coming. On their bandarrival she with them and her loved ones, who were all at her bedside, very thoughtfully arranged the outline for her funeral. She slected [sic] the text and each song and stated how thy [sic] were to be placed in the services anl [sic] by whom they wer [sic] to be sung. She then called for her Sunday school class that sh [sic] might speak a parting word to each one. When asked if she wanted her pastor to pray, she said "Yes," but then asked that she might hear her father pray once more. At the conclusion of his prayer she with her small son, joined with him in singng: [sic] "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," and "Marching to Zion." Sister Grove loved her own very dearly. She loved her pator [sic] and his family, also her former pastor, Bro. A. M. Harrel, and mentioned a desire to have him assist in the funeral services. Her timely life is yet a living monument to speak praises for the Church of Gad [sic]. I shall ever remember her loyalty to the cause. Her death and the many impressive things sh [sic] did and said were truely a benedicion [sic] to the world, community and city in which she lived. -- I. M.
