    LEVI BARTLETT,

    Son of Dr. Ezra and Hannah (Gale) Bartlett, was born in Warren, N. H., Oct. 4, 1806. His father, who was the youngest son of Josiah Bartlett, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, removed to Haverhill, N. H., in 1812; and died there in 1848, aged 78.

    He was prepared for college at the Academy in Haverhill, N. H., under the tuition of Andrew Mack, Esq. · After graduating, he resided in Virginia until 1835; during which time, he taught school, studied law, and commenced the study of medicine. In 1835, he returned to Haverhill, and completed his medical studies with his father. In 1837, he graduated at the Dartmouth Medical College, (from which his father had received the honorary degree of M. D. in 1829), and removed to Syracuse, N. Y. In January, 1838, he settled in Skaneateles, N. Y., where he has since practiced his profession.

    He was married, August 26, 1833, to Miss Amelia Hommann, of Philadelphia, Pa. She died three years after, in Haverhill, N. H.; and he was again married, June 19, 1838, to Miss Harriette Elizabeth Hopkins, daughter of the late Dr. J. B. Hopkins, of Skaneateles.

    He has three children: Charles Frederick, now chief Clerk in the Drug Store of Cazwell, Hazard & Co., Fifth Avenue Hotel, N. Y.; Edward Theodore, now engaged in the practice of law in the City of New York ; and Mary Helmenia.
