"A sad drowning accident occurred Wednesday evening at Bucksport. Two boys named Leslie Wardwell and Leslie Sanborn were rowing on the river and in some manner the boat capsized and both occupants were thrown into the water. Wardwell was rescued by the occupants of another boat, but before help could reach Sanborn he drowned. After about an hour's search, the body was recovered." -Bangor Daily Whig and Courier 01 July 1887
