Springfield News Sun 19 September 2004, page 10 B obituary (accompanied by photograph) ACKERMAN, Leslie N. of London, Ohio, formerly of Springfield and Lafayette Ohio, passed away at home in his sleep on September 16, 2004, after a brave battle with a lengthy illness. He was born January 20, 1919, the son of Rosa and Erna Ackerman. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man who touched many lives and never knew a stranger. "Mr. A" taught school for nearly 30 years and will be greatly missed by students, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Erna Ackerman and two brothers Ernest and Lester Ackerman. He is survived by one brother, Len Ackerman of Lafayette, Ohio; one sister, Joanna Good of Pineville, Louisiana; his wife, Colleen Ackerman; two daughters, Sandy Booghier and Cathy Fry, as well as five grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He resided with long-term loving friends and second family, Eunice and Tom Johnson, and special little friend, Ellie. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday September 20, 2004 at the I.O.O.F. Home Chapel, 404 E. McCreight, Springfield, Ohio. He was proud to donate his body to science, and in lieu of flowers, would have approved of donations to: Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 710 West 168th St., New York, N.Y. 10032.
