After a short and violent illness, death claimed Mrs. Lenora Graves Burris on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 19, her family being gathered around her bedside where the end had been expected for hours and days. Mrs. Burris' life had been one of intense usefulness, she having raised a family of four boys and three girls, all fitted and equipped for honorable citizenship and expert service in their particular spheres in life. She was a faithful and devoted home-maker, unselfishly giving her best to her family until the last, when she died as it were, "in harness," at the age of 67 years. She lived all her married life in Washington Parish and was almost a life-long member of the Baptist church. Deceased was the widow of the late B. B. Burris who preceeded her in death by a little more than seven years. Three of her children, all past their majority, died in recent years, a daughter, Mrs. Ollie Burris Bradley at her home in Georgia, and two sons, Ralph and Harvey Burris. She is survived now by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. P. E. Greenlaw, and Miss Belma Burris, the latter a succesful business woman with the Merchants Grocery Co., here. Bill Burris an electrical engineer at Dayton, Ohio, and Prof. Jess Burris, superintendant of Vidalia schools. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, Judge T. J. Graves and Willie Graves of Clifton; Mrs. Marcus Magee of Franklinton; and Mrs. Wallace Stogner of Bogalusa. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. D. Carroll Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence in North Franklinton, interment in Ellis cemetery following.
