Lena Alice Jeffries was instantly killed Thursday when her new Ford coach stalled and was hit by passenger train No. 1 at the Green Street Crossing, ages 33 years, 3 months, 2 days. Her funeral was at the Methodist Church in Thebes. There was a coroner's inquest. She had worked at the state hospital since November 1930. Her husband, Charles Jeffries, worked for the C & E Railroad as a freight clerk and died about a year ago. She was the daughter of Oliver Holmes of Mill Creek. She also left three small children and four sisters.
