LJ Schade moved to Medford in 1918 from Portland and worked for the Reddy Jewelry company prior to opening his own store in 1927 at 21 S. Central Ave. The store was moved to 9 S Central Ave in 1937. He was an honorary life member of the Medford Elks lodge. He had served as president of the Crater Lake council Boy Scouts of America for a number of years and was holder of the Silver Beaver And Silver Antelope awards. He also served as City Councilman for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He retired from the jewelry business in 1953.
