    LAWRENCE J. McCOY
    Lawrence J. McCoy, 86, of 118 Safford St., who had operated a dairy farm and gravel business here for more than 45 years, retiring in 1959, died unexpectedly at Putnam Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon.
    Born in Pawlet on June 8, 1885, he was the son of Joseph and Martha (Rafter) McCoy. His education was received in Pawlet. In earlier years with his brother, he had owned and operated a meat market business in Dorset and Pawlet. In 1910 he purchased his farm in Bennington.
    He married the former Margaret Teresa Kelley in East Dorset in St. Jerome's Church on April 25, 1911.
    Mr. McCoy was an ardent hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed baseball.
    Survivors besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Lionel (Elizabeth) Marcoux of Bennington and Mrs. Louis (Anne) DeRienzo of Saccusuma, N.J.; three sons, Joseph W. of Bennington, Paul E. of Panama City, Fla., Francis L. of Clearwater, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
    The funeral will be held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 11 am with the Rev. Floyd La Bombard, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
    Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
    Burial will be in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
    If friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home office.
