Obituary taken from the Bryan Times, Sept. 9, 1974, p. 3 LAWRENCE BECHTOL Montpelier -- Funeral services for Lawrence L. Bechtol, 61, of 624 South Jonesville St., Montpelier, were scheduled Monday afternoon from the Thompson Funeral Home here, officiated by the Rev. John Ferne, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment was to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Bechtol died Saturday morning in the Williams County General Hospital, where he had been admitted earlier that day. A former switchman for the Wabash Railroad Co., he was born March 29, 1913 in Williams County, the son of Harry and Grace (McLain) Bechtol. Survivors are a son, Earl Bechtol, Montpelier; his mother, Mrs. Grace Bechtol, Warren, Mich.; one brother, Harry Bechtol, Westland, Mich.; six sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hopkins, Mrs. Martha Moore, and Mrs. Beverly Betts, all of Montpelier, Mrs. Hazel Bowling, Warren, Mich., Mrs. Ruth Valliencourt, Utica, Mich., and Mrs. Blanche Milliman, Pittsford, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
