KNOTT, Karen Kathleen - September 25, 1939 - August 3, 1998. Karen passed away peacefully in Seattle at Virginia Mason Hospital after a courageous struggle with cancer. Remains were cremated at her request. Born in Bellingham to Arthur H. and Genee Faye (Hodge) Knott. The Knotts were long time residents of Bellingham and Blaine. Her parents preceded her in death. Karen graduated from Blaine High School in 1957 and attended Western Washington State College. Survivors include daughter Genee Fenton of Newcastle (Renton), brother Kenneth Knott (Ella) of Camano Island, sister Royce Ronser of Philadelphia, aunt Dorothy Knott Perry, cousins Bob (Gail) Perry and Sandy Phelps Whitehead of Bellingham, numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. Close friends Rhoda Sluys of Everett, Pat Haws, Candis Haws Kellar, Wynn Haws and Genee Haws of Blaine, Sharon Haws Cole of Burlington. Karen had many special friends and was a kind, gentle person who enjoyed going to the U.W. Husky and Seattle Seahawks football and Mariners baseball games. She lived many years in Lynnwood, Washington. Due to ill health, she retired from Market Spice Foods (Redmond) in 1996 and moved to Everett. She loved beautiful flowers, gardening, clam digging and oyster picking, enjoyed times at beaches throughout the area and was inspired by the wonderful sunsets at Drayton Harbor, Birch Bay and Semiahmoo. A celebration of life with family and friends will be at Birch Bay on Saturday, August 15.
