    pastor of Salem Street Church, Boston, 1828-29;
    secretary and general agent of American Temperance Society, 1829-36;
    president of Andover Seminary, 1836-42;
    secretary of American and Foreign Christian Union, 1842-49;
    author of Family Commentary on the Bible, of the Sabbath and Temperance Manuals, and of many tracts;
    resided in Andover from 1829;
    died, Bath Alum Springs, Va., July 23, 1853.
