Friend: Helen Carlisle [edit] ObituaryJune Dalrymple Milliken, 83, of Bowerston, passed away on June 9, 2014, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover, following a brief illness. Born June 2, 1931, in the village of Little York, Ohio, June was a daughter of the late William Paul and Florence (Meredith) Dalrymple. She moved to the Bowerston area with her family in early childhood. June graduated from Bowerston High School in 1950 as Class Valedictorian. She worked in the office of the Nolan Company in Bowerston for 10 years and served as treasurer of the Conotton Valley School District. On September 16, 1956, June married Frank H. Milliken, Jr. in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowerston. June and Frank celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last year. June was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she served as church organist, choir member, and Sunday school teacher, as well as holding various offices. Serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother was one of her many joys. She loved working with “her boys”. June was a 50 year member of the Carroll Co. Chapter #315 of the Order of Eastern Star. She served on the board of the Bowerston Public Library and on the Home Health Board of the Harrison Community Hospital. June’s family, including her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and good friends, were very important to her. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and arranging fresh and artificial flowers. Her other interests included reading, conquering crossword puzzles, discovering her family’s genealogy, and trying to understand life. The Lord was her Shepherd! June is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Christopher (Olga) Milliken of Columbus, Joel Milliken of Steubenville, and Kathleen (Thomas) Sawyer of West Chester; grandchildren, Frank Milliken, III, Kelli and Mara Milliken, Noah and Eli Sawyer; sister, Berniece Pender; and many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her brothers, Eric (Ethel) Dalrymple and Richard (Myrtle) Dalrymple; sister, Lois (Charles) McCutcheon; and grandson, Brendan Millliken. Funeral services for June, officiated by Pastor Tom Dawson, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Trinity United Methodist Church at Bowerston. Interment will follow in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bowerston Public Library, Bowerston Volunteer Fire Department, and Trinity United Methodist Church. References
