    Josiah(2) Clark (Thomas(1)), of Ipswich He married, Dec. 14, 1670, Mercy, daughter of John Boynton or Rowley. Will made 1691; proved 1691. Brothers-in-law, Joseph and Caleb Boynton, administered on the estate.

    30 JOSIAH of Ipsw., b. ab. 1646, son of Thomas the cooper, and neph. of Edward of Haverhill, making him first cous. of Matthew, Hanniel and Joseph, whose sons came to the Pisc. See (49). In 1673 he bound out to Henry Green of Hampton the 2-yr. old boy sworn on him by Sarah Warr. Tho. 'jr.', his bro., was his surety in 1671, and in 1667 Tho. 'sr.' was surety for Josiah(31) 'about stocks.' See (49). He was sheriff's deputy in Essex Co. He d. 27 Sep. 1691, adm. to wid. Mercy (Boynton, of Rowley, m. 14 Dec. 1670), who m. 2d 4 July 1692 Dea. Joseph Goodhue, 3d, Nov. 1712, John Hovey, and d. 22 Dec. 1730. He liv. with his f. and did not come east, but his s. George, who bot out his sisters Mercy, Hannah and Sarah, wife of Nathl. Bailey, and his bro. Thomas, tailor of Boston 1715, rem. to Stratham.
