1783: “Catharine and Joshua Wilson moved from the Loudon County, Virginia area prior to 1783; their youngest child, Elizabeth, was born 29 March, 1783. They settled on Brush Creek, a branch of the Little River, west of Roanoke.     Joshua [Wilson] bought land on the West Fork of Little River in 1798 in Montgomery County, Virginia. In 1800 he sold some land in Montgomery County to Thomas Lee. Joshua was on Captain Martin's Company of Bent Mountain Tithables with "3 horses, 11 cattle, no slaves or tithes."
