- ↑ There were two sons named Joshua born into this family. The first one b. 1720/1 and d. 1723. Familysearch.org indexes show an entry for a third in 1729, which could suggest this one died young, but it is an error. Clicking through to the actual image shows the date actually said 1720/21, but the slash separating 20 from 21 was misinterpreted as the stem of a '9', giving an incorrect date.
- ↑ Billion Graves says Joshua lived 1724-1784 based a family monument containing many names (not readable in the given image, enlarged image requires membership). The Find A Grave memorial page for Joshua's mother includes a picture of the side containing "THE CHILDREN OF DEA. JOSHUA LANE". It actually appears, under magnification, to say "JOSHUA 1724-1794 FREMONT", but without magnification, it is hard to discern 1784 or 1794. The notes on the memorial page says this was "a large monument erected in 1888 at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Hampton", i.e., by a descendant. Note that the transcription of the monument found in the Hampton VRs, cited above, on page Vol. 2, p. 318, says: "JOSHUA 1724-1794 FREMONT".
