    "171 … Joseph (Welles); bapt. 3 Dec 1699; d. unmarried bef. 4 Aug 1725 when Ebenezer Wells filed an administrator's bond on his estate. His estate was distributed by an agreement of his heirs dated 3 Apr 1733. The heirs were Jonathan Wells, Ebenezer Wells, and Anna Wells (Hartford Probate District, Connecticut Estate Files, docket no. 5831). He may have died as a result of an epidemic that hit Hartford."

    Welles, Joseph. Court Record, Page 97—1st August, 1725: This Court grant Adms. unto Ebenezer Welles, brother of sd. decd., and he took letters of Adms. this day.

    Page 268 (Probate Side, Vol. XI): Know all men by these presents: That we, Jonathan Welles, Ebenezer Welles and Anne Welles, of Hartford, being the only heirs to the estate of our brother Joseph Welles, of sd. Hartford decd., do make this agreement for ourselves and heirs: We agree that Jonathan Welles shall have a brown mare; and Anne Welles shall have 40 shillings in money and a chest which she has now in keeping; and Ebenezer Welles shall have all the residue of the estate. And we do agree with each other that this shall be a full settlement of our deceased brother's estate.
