  1.   Joseph Mosher was a participant in the War of 1812 and later in the public house or tavern business where he kept several in the Columbia - Washington area and was cited numerous times (1813-1830) as a petitioner on behalf of various tavern wannabes. In the 1830’s and on, he was referred to Esq. and/or Col. and was supervisor of the Columbia and Philadelphia Railroad, where he was in charge of building and repair projects. He was often cited as estate Executor and manager of real estate sales around Lancaster. In the late 1830’s up to 1845 he was involved with local politics (Democrat) and in 1843 ran for mayor of Lancaster but lost handedly to incumbent Mayor, Michael Carpenter. He was married to Eliza, and had several children, who are shown in the 1850 Schuylkill County census. In 1845 he announced he was leaving the county and wished to promptly sell all his properties. By 1848 he sold all his property in Lancaster and bought two tracts of land totaling 46 acres 127 perches in Pinegrove Township, Schuylkill County, PA, where he died suddenly in his 60th year, without a will, a month after the 1850 census was taken.

It is not known what happened to Eliza, but she did survive him and is mentioned in his inventory and property sale papers. She is likely gone by 1876 according to a deed filed there, but there is no record of her burial at Pine Grove.

Between the 1850 census and the Deeds in Schuylkill Co., after his death, his named children were: William James Mosher, Jeremiah T. Mosher, Mary Jane Mosher, Joanna Gray Mosher and Thaddeus Stevens Mosher.
